Discussion of Alcoholism
Recovery rate: Twelve-Step programs

I work in the mental health field, so I come across a lot of patients who are (voluntarily or otherwise) attending twelve-step AA or NA meetings, and am wondering: Is there any reliable source for statistics as to how effective this treatment is? Are the numbers (if any) published by AA different from other numbers? I'm getting anywhere from 5% to 50% recovery rate for Alcoholics who attend 12-step meetings.
Thanks for any help.
