Latin and Family Mottos

school motto

I need to know the translation of this motto: probitas et scientia. It is my high school's motto, but there is some dispute. Literally, it translates Honesty and Knowledge. However, the school translates it as Wisdom and Knowledge.
Can someone clarify, pleasse?
