Dallas Therapist

I saw that you had another entry similar to what mine will be but I did not see the answer...

Anyway, my brother turned 42 on Monday and is clearly depressed and possibly bipolar. (My paternal grandmother was a paranoid schizophrenic - possibly genetic???) He works occasionally as a contractor and his wife just recently found another job after being laid-off so finances are a problem when it comes to therapy.

Is there anywhere in the Dallas area that offers income-based rates for therapy?

Also, my father paid for him to see a Dr. Davisson who specializes in adults with Attention Deficit Disorder. He prescribed meds but really did nothing to counsel him (which he desperately needs). Dr. Davisson also charged over $100 to renew his PRESCRIPTION - that did not include the drugs, just the piece of paper. Anyway, my point in telling this is that my brother is now weary of doctors assuming that most are like Dr. Davisson and don't care anything about the patient - just the money.

We really need to find someone who will listen to him and the use the information gathered to diagnose him and THEN determine what meds are necessary.

I prefer someone who is a Christian, but will counsel my brother without introducing the "God factor" until my brother is ready (he would run screaming away!!!)

I know this is a lot of information - especially when we are hoping to find someone who he can afford. We would help, but that would add another layer of guilt to my brother since he is always relying on the family for help. (enabling....you want to help him to get therapy but not keep picking him up...what to do?!?!)

Please help.

THank you
