My wife has been having episodes of schizophrenia for the last few years of our marriage. I thought at first it simply was symptomatic of alcohol abuse. That it is too because she will typically dring two bottles of wine in an evening. However after drinking herself to bed she will have night restlessness where she will first start talking and thrashing around in bed. She will get up and use the restroom and appear to acknowledge my presence but still be in a strange state of mind where she is verbally abusive and a mean personality. When she calms down and finishes the sleep process she wakes up without a memory at all of the state of mind she was in. She will also occasionally walk in her sleep and talk to me like she is awake but the personality is not normal. she has navigated our stairs down to our outer deck and smoked a cigarette...returned to bed and next day not have a clue it took place. In a nomal awake state she is sweet and caring and communicative. It's very perplexing!!
