My husband and I were married for 21 years. Of those years, 15 of them he drank and the last 6 he was sober. However, he fell off the wagon on 11/11/02 and passed away on 4/18/03 due to acute liver failure, congestive heart failure and went into a coma. Back in January 2003 he was told that he had Alcohol Induced Dementia which was explained to me as being long term effect to the brain. It didn't effect his thought process until now and was due to all past drinking. I always protected my husband and am totally lost w/o him now. You know you associate drinking and seeing that person either get drunk or just pass out but I never thought in my life that his drinking would lead to his death. He had such a high tolerance of liquor (Vodka )and never saw in all my years him drink as bad as he did over the last 5 mos of his life. But, I loved him unconditionally and would re-live my life all over the same way with him.
